Ryan and Heather Farnsley have five children, Andrew, age 11, Justin, age 10, Rebecca, age 9, Cassandra, age 4 and Samantha, age 17 months. Ryan is a native Arizonan and Heather was born in Bakersfield, California. Both graduated from Peoria High School. For entertainment, dad and the oldest three kids attend the Peoria High School’s football games and Heather and the two youngest go to McDonalds or watch movies. Heather also likes to go to the Glendale Library.

The family resided in Peoria in a small trailer with no yard to for the kids to play. Now, the kids have their own back yard in which they have planted a vegetable garden and many trees they helped pick out with their parents. Heather and Ryan save a few dollars every week to go towards their backyard. The kids get to play in a safe back yard and also get to experiment and learn about growing different plants.

Heather is a homemaker and Ryan works for the City of Peoria. Ryan and Heather are working hard to make a better life for themselves and their children. Habitat for Humanity has allowed for them to do this in their new home in El Amor de Cristo.

Arlyne Romero

Sponsor: Thrivent Builds (Thrivent Financial for Lutherans)
Subdivision: El Amor de Cristo
Home Completed: Summer, 2006

An Arizona native, Arlyne Romero is a single mother with two children, Ana Lea, age 5 and Alijah, age 1. Arlyne enjoys reading and going to the park with her children. Ana Lea is attending all day kindergarten in a charter school and has been in the Head Start program. Arlene attended the Art Institute of Phoenix and has completed a two year program in Culinary Arts. She is currently employed by Sam’s Club as a cake decorator. She enjoys working with food and food presentation.

Before getting a Habitat home, Arlyne and her children were living with her parents in a three-bedroom house in Peoria. Arlyne’s brother and two cousins also lived with them. The house was in good condition but it was also very overcrowded. Arlyne and her children slept in one small bedroom where they also stored all of their belongings. The home is rather small and with eight people living there, sharing the two bathrooms was sometimes difficult.

Arlyne and her children enjoy going to the park and riding bikes. They also enjoy going to the movies, reading books and taking walks.

Arlyne is a very motivated young mother who is working very hard to make a bright and stable future for her family.
